The world famous PUA Training, known for having great pickup artists such as Gambler and AFC Adam will be having a boot camp for expats in Gangnam, Seoul on Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18 under its Korean branch. PUA Training Korea is run by Alexikaikos Hong, a Korean pick up artist who has learned game during his studies in London from 1999-2010. He once had trouble with girls, but in 2005, ran into PUA Training, and it changed his life, and is now a top pick up artist.

While Gambler and AFC Adam may be some of the best pickup artists in the world, they can not out-game the people of PUA Training Korea for one reason: PUA Training Korea are more familiar with Korean culture, and thus, understand Korean women better than anyone else.

This boot camp will not teach any canned routines, and instead, will focus more on teaching natural game, teaching a man how to teach his own natural charm instead of acting like someone he’s not. Each trainee will be paired with a trainer who speaks fluent English. This trainer will be one who’s character is most compatible with that of the trainee. There will hours of theory sessions, teaching a person how to show their attractive qualities. This will be followed by intense field training. This field training will include day game in the coffee shops, bookstores, and streets while night game will be in the clubs, in which the trainees will be given VIP access.

After the training, the trainee may call his trainer to wing with him. This service will be free for the first three times during the first two months after the training. He will wing with you, hook you up with girls, and give you feedback on your performance.

This bootcamp by PUA Training Korea, which is normally 1,180,000 won for Koreans, will only cost 800,000 won for foreigners. You can apply by writing an email to info@puatkorea.com. Tell them you’re interested in the boot camp, and write a bit about yourself, dating experiences, level of pickup skill, weaknesses and strengths of character, and motivation for doing this bootcamp.

One of my friends mentioned the Naughty Nomad blog to me. I got a chance to check it out and I found it very informative. You will read about NN’s interesting stories about his travels around the world. I decided to interview him for you guys. Hope you enjoy the interview.

Basic Questions

1)	How did you get into pickup?

Like most people, it starting with “The Game” by Neil Strauss. My Dad actually bought the book home after hearing about it on the radio. After I read it I convinced most of my friends to read it. My journey started there…

2)	What is your dating philosophy?

Destroy young girls lives. But seriously, I’m all about variety. I only date women from other nationalities or ethnicities (non-exclusively of course). I’m very honest with girls about my lifestyle; most of them have no problem with my non-commitment. I travel too much. I’m of the opinion they’re lucky to catch me while I’m around.

3)	How did you get good at dating to become an authority on it?

Mistakes. I made a lot of mistakes. I tried everything. I spent so much time trying to emulate the gurus in the community, but it wasn’t until I developed my own style, one which I felt congruent with, did I start to see a big difference; the quantity and quality improved.

I’m no pick up guru; I’m just a specialist in exotic women. Each country is like a code waiting to be cracked. I found western game often faltered with linguistic and cultural barriers and I wanted to break past that. Over the years I had to develop new techniques to cater for different scenarios in other countries. Some shit worked, some didn’t. A lot of the stuff I was trying didn’t exist in the pick-up lexicon – things like shoring, pipelining and crunching (see blog). These were thing that sky-rocketed my flag count. Before I knew it, all my friends were using my techniques to pick up when they travelled. I was part of a new frontier – pick-up for the vagabond. I started the Naughty Nomad blog and viola.

4)	What do you think guys greatest mistake with women is?

No cajones. The number one reason why most guys aren’t successful with women is the fact they never go up and talk to them in the first place. Approach Anxiety will forever be man’s downfall. Furthermore, a narrow mind. You’d be surprised the amount of men who simply refuse to read books like “The Game” on ‘principal’. Guys like us who are willing to educate themselves on social dynamics, will forever have the advantage.

5)	In your experience, what is the best place to find a quality girlfriend?

I guess it depends on your values. If were talking about aesthetic quality, I’d say Eastern Europe. If were talking about quality characteristics, I’d go for Asian or African woman. It’s hard to come up with a generic answer.

6)	What are some ways to enlarge your social circle?

Befriend more women. It took me a while to develop healthy platonic relationships. Other ideas? Start a band. Take up new sports. Join societies in college. Learn to Dance. Learn a language. Do a course. Go out more and travel. Try something new. Have a fucking life.

7)	What was your life like when you weren’t good with women? What is it like now?

Frustrating and lonely. I used to get depressed and craved intimacy. I had zero confidence. I used to just stay indoors and get stoned with my mates.

What is it like now? Busy! But that’s not a bad complaint. I’m feeling pretty good these days, but sometimes you feel a little shallow and empty… I’ve hurt a lot of people. Life is about balance and I’m still trying to find it.

What is one of your favorite techniques/tactics?

Extreme peacocking. For those who don’t know, in September some friends and I spent 24 nights in a row travelling through the Balkans dressed as a Mexican Pirate. It was a blast.

I also tend to employ things like jealously plot-lines, anchoring and going caveman.

I’m pretty direct, but my opener is always the same “Where are you from?” Then I whip out some words in their language or some stories /knowledge from the country. It gets the ball rolling and it plays to my strengths.

9)	Do you use props? If so, what gets the most reactions?

Sometimes. As mentioned, I peacock a lot. Mexican pirates get the best reactions. When I’m with my crew we buy kid’s party hats and put them on cute girls in the bar to anchor. Sometimes, I whip out my iPhone to do the work for me by showing girls some whopper pics, like my name tattooed on my crazy ex-girlfriend’s ass.

10)	What is your biggest sticking point?

Approaching and transitioning – I don’t like to use canned material so I have to rely on situational openers or being direct. Sometimes, I go blank. For all my experience, Approach Anxiety still creeps in – especially when I’m sober! haha

11)	What pick up artist has inspired you the most? What did you learn from them?

The Venusian Arts Handbook by Mystery is probably my core text. I’ve also used material from De Angelo, Jeffries, Style & Vin de Carlo. A lot of stuff I needed to learn was inner game based; you need to have the fundamentals. I found De Angelo provided the bones while the others provided the meat.

12) Describe the moment when you realized you need to work on this part of your life.

I was in my second year in college and I hit a 6 month dry patch. I swore to myself, never again.

13) What advice do you give to newbies starting out?

Find guys on the same wavelength. Get out there. Read everything, try everything, and make mistakes. Repeat. The key thing is stepping outside your comfort zone.

14) In your experience, what is the biggest issue for guys getting attraction from women?

They think too much or come across as too needy. Girls can pick up if you’re treating an interaction like a chess game. She’s not a playstation. You can’t copy and paste techniques and expect a certain response. Relax and have fun.

15) What are your goals for the community? Your life?

As for the community, I’m doing my part taking this game around the world. I’m happy to pave the way, but I’d like to see more guys like yourself writing about. There’s just not enough info. Personally, I want to visit every country in the world before I’m 35. Then I’ll pick a sexy foreign wife and have multi-racial, bi-lingual superkids.

Specialized Questions

When did you start your blog and what made you start it?

I started the blog in April of last year. I was living such a crazy life and I wanted share it with people. I also felt there was a serious lack of info for single guys looking to hook up in foreign countries. I wanted to help fill that void.

How did you get the name Naughty Nomad?

It literally just popped into my head one night in bed. The next day I bought the domain name.

You’re quite the traveler! What made you want to start traveling? How many countries have you been to?

I’ve been to 58 countries now, including Antarctica and a few self-proclaimed republics. It all started on my trip to Antarctica when I was 18. It was the best experience of my life. In was then I found my vocation – to vacation. Since I was a little kid I always dreamed about being an explorer. The trip rekindled that passion. Now I refuse to accept an alternative destiny, at least in the medium term.

What was the most interesting country you’ve traveled to and why?

Ethiopia. I could talk all day about it… the women, the culture, the history, the vibe… Let’s just say it’s a very special place for me. I’ll have to dedicate a whole post to it; I couldn’t do it justice in this space. Second place would have to be the Philippines – it’s a sexual playground.

What was a country that you disliked the most and why?

Egypt. It’s overrated, full of sleazy con-artists and the nightlife is shit. Egyptian men are generally scum and ruin the whole Egyptian experience. A close runner-up in Russia, the people there can be very dower, even downright hostile. For me, the people make or break a country.

I heard you’ve traveled to Africa can you tell me an interesting story from the time you were there?

Where oh where do I begin. A lot of crazy shit happened in Africa. We jumped the border to escape Sudan, smuggled a kilo of weed from Ethiopia over 7 borders and decided to travel in North Kivu, a war zone in Eastern Congo. Shit got scary, I can’t even begin to tell you what went on there… I got a lot of the stories on the blog if anyone wants to check it out…

You dressed up as a pirate with your buddies for one-week right? What was that experience like? Did you feel like it changed you in anyway?

Mexican Pirates, furthermore it was 24 nights in a row. That was in the Balkans, we also did the same thing for one week straight in Malta. It was the most fun I ever had in my life. It didn’t change me, it just got me laid a lot. It did wonders for my friends though. It certainly improved their confidence. Life is more fun in costume.

What does it mean to collect a flag? How many flags have you collected?

If you hook with a local from a foreign country, you get a flag. Guys who indulge in ‘flagging’ are called flaggers. Check out flagging headquarters for info. I’m not interested in notches, only flags. I’m 24, and I’ve gotten 32 flags so far.

You mentioned pipelining as important. Can you define what pipelining is and why it has been important to you? How can others benefit it?

I think the blog sums it up best.

“Pipelining” is a practice primarily employed by travellers wanting to meet potential sexual partners in a future destination. Meetings are typically arranged online through social networking and dating sites. The objective is to have potential mates already ‘in the pipeline’ prior to arrival in a certain location, thus vastly increasing the chances of a sexual encounter with a local. The terms ‘Pipelining’ and ‘online game’ can be used interchangeably.

Can you tell us an interesting travel story? Maybe something unexpected happened to you while you were traveling?

My passport got robbed in Cambodia and I ended up staying there for several weeks with a Khmer girl. It’s a long story but finishes with her tattooing my name on her ass. To take some recent happenings, I just got back I was just got back from the Dominican Republic and Haiti. My first night in DR I banged a Dominican super model and beauty queen. My last night in Haiti, I got robbed and laid in the same night. Good times. I recently posted both stories on the blog.

Where are you currently? What is your travel plans in the future?

As mentioned, I just got back for the Caribbean. Next month, I’m in Eastern Europe for a few days before jetting off to travel the whole of West Africa. It’s going to be fuckin’ crazy, I can’t wait!

Do you plan on releasing any products in the future?

That’s classified information

C’est La Vie Pension is a pension house that is near Mango Square in Cebu. For those unfamiliar with pension houses, they are buildings with private rooms. The location is probably the only beneficial part of this pension house. Also, they sell snacks so you don’t have to walk to the convenience store. It’s only a 5-minute walk to all of the restaurants and bars in Cebu, but it’s directly in front of a restaurant that plays loud music. If you are like me and need to get work done, I wouldn’t recommend this place. However, if you are looking to party all night and don’t care about noise then this might be somewhere you could consider staying. I stayed in this pension longer because it was very cheap at only 700 pesos, and also I didn’t feel like packing all of my things. While the time I was there, I found a mouse in my room, the toilet was clogged several times, and my camera was stolen from my room. If you stay here, I recommend locking up your belongings or not leaving them in plain sight, which I did with my camera.

The air-conditioner in the room works on the fan setting, but if I turned it up to the low A/C settings the air conditioner started to make a very loud noise. The bed is comfortable and I did manage to get rest, but the street traffic and dogs would wake me up in the morning. The pension house advertises that the water is warm but in fact the showers are lukewarm and pretty close to being cold. I just happened to take a quick shower so I wouldn’t have to be cold for long. The Wi-Fi signal on the fourth floor was bad. There was actually another password for the fourth floor, but the staff gave me the password for the first floor. The first week I had to use my USB internet until I found out the fourth floor had a different password. When I did get the internet to work, it would cut out all the time and was difficult to use. Your only option when that happens is to use the internet on the 1st floor. The only thing is that there is no air conditioning down there and mosquitoes will bite you.

A majority of the time the staff would leave the door open so loud music would be blaring while I was trying to do my work on my laptop. My camera getting stolen was the final straw. I moved to a new pension house, which is brand new, and the AC doesn’t make loud noises. I will do a write up on the place I am staying in now when I leave Cebu. I should have gotten out of C’est La Vie Pension a while ago, but I’m happy I did now. Watch out for the mice and lizards running around in between the rooms. I also heard that the pension house has a roach problem as well. However, if you are looking for a cheap pension house near Mango Square and you don’t mind the nuisances I described then check it out.

Location:
13 Juana Osmena Street, Cebu City 6000, Philippines
If coming by cab, tell the driver it is located in front of Baseline Restaurant.

Want to try a different restaurant in Cebu? How about trying Blue Zydeco Bayou? They offer: Cajun, Creole, Soul, and Tex-Mex dishes. I know what you’re thinking. Can I really get this type of food in Cebu? The answer is Yes.

Gilsa from the M Café had given me a restaurant recommendation. At first my Filipino friend and I had difficulty finding it. We missed the restaurant the first time we drove around the plaza named Crossroads. The person who gave me the recommendation told me to look for “BZB” which was not on the sign. It actually read “Blue Bayou.” It wasn’t until I told my friend “Hmm Cajun food would be interesting to try. Let’s go here.”

We arrived in the restaurant and the first thing I noticed is that it had a free wi-fi sign and an open kitchen. I feel more comfortable eating from a restaurant that has an open kitchen don’t you? We sat downstairs which was a small, but there is an upstairs area and the bar which have additional seating. There were only two tables and a long bar. The restaurant is open during afternoons and evenings. It is more of a bar setting. If you want more of a peaceful setting, I recommend coming in the afternoon.

The owner of the restaurant was not there when I arrived. Apparently he is American and has a reputation for running a good restaurant. I looked through the menu and actually saw Po Boy Sandwiches. The last time I had one of these was when I was back in the States a few years ago. I decided on the Fried Shrimp Po Boy and pineapple juice. The total price of my sandwich was 250 pesos and 50 pesos for the drink. For parties of 6 or more, there is a 10% service charge.

The menu also featured dishes like: Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings, Bodacious Ta-Ta’s Caesar Salad, Cheese Burgers, Jambalaya, Fish Tacos, and Country Fried Steak make with imported USDA beef. While the restaurant features many types of dishes, I was left wondering just what kind of restaurant is this? I felt like the creator just bundled many different types of American food into one restaurant. I think I just prefer going to a restaurant that follows one particular style of cooking. If you go to a Soul Food restaurant in Louisiana, you are not likely to find Tex Mex on the menu.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxed and the music selection featured Jazz. So maybe this restaurant follows more of a New Orleans theme? The decorations around the venue had Mardi Gras beads, paintings of martini glasses, and many other bar themed decorations. There was a gun displayed on the wall and I’m not too sure why it was there?

My food arrived and it looked delicious. A Fried Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich made with: two pieces of French Baguette, lettuce, tomatoes, 6 pieces of breaded fried shrimp per piece of French Baguette, and a tasty Cajun Remoulade Sauce. This combined for one tasty sandwich. The breaded shrimp tasted mildly buttery with a fishy taste which reminded me of the ocean. The sauce gave it a somewhat spicy taste that helped give the sandwich more flavor.

Overall, I was impressed with the sandwich. My only disappointment was that there was a slight burn on the bread, which took away some of the flavor. After my experience, I was still left wondering what type of restaurant this was? I felt like it had more of the New Orleans feel, but why did they add Tex-Mex on the menu? Who knows…maybe the fish tacos are good!

Want to know a cool pizza place in Cebu? It’s time to check out the Wine Shop located near the Golden Peak Hotel and the Kia Dealership. My Japanese friend recommended this really nice pizza restaurant located in Cebu. It is a restaurant during the day, but turns into a bar at night. We arrived at the restaurant around 9PM. We went into the non-smoking area and there was latin music playing. There were about 5 tables in the non-smoking area we were in. The place had a really good ambiance to it.

The owner of the restaurant, who is from Spain, greeted us when we sat down. He looked a bit older I’d say in his late 40’s early 50’s. He mentioned that the area we were sitting in was hot and pointed to the air conditioner. A couple minutes later one of the staff in the restaurant went to turn on the AC. In terms of atmosphere, this place gave off a good vibe. Maybe it’s because the owner is from Spain and knows how to set up a good restaurant. The staff was very attentive to us during the time I was there.

I was actually starving. I’m getting over a cold and I know I probably shouldn’t have eaten pizza, but I just had that appetite. I had the choice of four different styles of pizza and I chose the Toledo. The main reason I chose it was because it was a Spanish style pizza. It came with onions, cut asparagus, manchega and mozzarella cheese. The price for this dish was 320 pesos. “I’m willing to pay a little extra if it’s good” I thought to myself.

While we were waiting on the food, we listened to a cover band singing tunes. The place was really lively and the people there were dancing and having fun. I ordered canned pineapple juice (65 pesos) and nearly finished it by the time my food arrived. The pizza took around 20 minutes to arrive, but was well worth the wait. It was hot like it had just come out of the oven. The ingredients were fresh and the cheese was gooey, drippy, and stringy. The crust had a slight burnt to it so it was bit crunchy. But with all the other ingredients it tasted very delicious. I think the sauce and the cheese gave the pizza its great taste. This is definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in the Philippines. I finished the entire pizza by myself! Also, my Japanese friend paid for my meal. Not a bad day since I had two meals paid for by friends!

The menu also features tapas and paella. The paella costs 495 for two people and has to be ordered one-day advance. I wonder why does it have to be ordered one day in advance? Maybe it has something to do with the ingredients or something. Anyways, I would recommend checking out this place for some really good pizza in Cebu. If you are not into live music, I would recommend coming to the restaurant in the afternoon.

Want to know some cool cafes in Cebu? Today, I came across this nice cafe in Cebu I wanted to write about. It was actually my Filipina friend that recommended this restaurant. I think a good way to find out the cool places to go in a city is to get to know the locals.

The restaurant’s name is Café George and it is located near Ayala Mall. There is also a 12% Vat included in the meal which surprised me because the service wasn’t all that good considering how many people were working there. I counted about six workers and there were only about four or five customers. I asked my Filipino friend “Why do the restaurants here overstaff?” She told me because “the managers like to have extra staff for peak times.” I also imagine it’s due to the cheap labor as well so it’s easy to hire more workers. The disadvantage is that many sit around talking to one another and not doing their work.

The wealth in the Philippines is mainly distributed through only elite families. This coffee shop is owned by the Luda family, which also happens to own an oil factory in Cebu. The daughter manages the restaurant.

The café was mostly colored white with chandeliers on the walls and had an open space with plenty of seating. There is also outdoor seating available. My friend told me that the café is mostly used for meetings. There was no music playing the background. I felt like there was something missing and I think that was due to the music. I was coming down with a cold so I ordered the steam milk and carrot soup. As my main dish, I ordered a ranch chicken sandwich, which was superb.

My steamed milk arrived first to the table. It was hot/fresh and delicious. Next, the green carrot soup arrived? My Filipino friend told the worker “he ordered the carrot soup.” They came back later with an orange looking soup and I was like “ok that’s my carrot soup.” It also tasted delicious and had a creamy texture. I even dipped my bread that came with the soup in it.

Before my chicken sandwich arrived, I asked my friend “Why do many of the churches in Cebu have Chinese characters?” She explained that the Chinese community put money in the churches so the Chinese characters were added for their donations to the church. Apparently, there are many Chinese-Filipinos living in Cebu. Even the owner of SM Mall, is Chinese.

My food arrived shortly thereafter. The portion size was good for the Philippines. I went to this café the other day and I ordered a beef and rice dish. Well, guess what? The beef came out in a tiny portion size with lots of rice. I was like really? When I left the restaurant, they charged me an electricity bill of 45 pesos per hour. I charged my laptop and that resulted in me getting an electricity fee. It was absolutely hilarious!!

Overall, the ranch chicken sandwich tasted delicious. The ingredients were fresh: toasted bread, ranch sauce, cucumbers, lettuce, and tomato. All of the ingredients combined to make this one tasty sandwich. The chicken was tasty and featured a flavorful seasoning that went along well with the rest of the ingredients. It also came with a creamy potato salad. The only thing was that the potato skins were still on the potatoes and I would have preferred to have the potato skins cut. I was just happy that when I finished eating it I wasn’t hungry.

I would like to recommend checking out this restaurant. They also offer: soups, salads, sausage, pork, beef, fish, chicken, and pasta dishes.

Hours of Operation: Sunday-Thursday: 10:30AM-10:00PM
Friday-Saturday:10:30AM-11:00PM

Dated from September 20th, 2010

On Friday, I was standing outside Room 18 with RedPoleQ and Latinstylez. RedPoleQ had called me in to help him wing. I did my thing and number closed the girl I was talking too. That set ended and I turned around and saw a girl with her hair up looking at me getting ready to leave. I waved goodbye absentmindedly and chatted with the guys. Then I felt someone tap me from behind. It was the girl I had waved goodbye too. She asked “Can I have your phone number?” Whoa, direct game. We exchanged numbers and she left.

The next day I gave her a call. She sounded sleepy and told me that she had gotten home at 10AM. This one is a party girl. She’s also a nurse and often works late nights. I set up a day 2 for coffee on Sunday because she had to go to work. It’s suppose to be a thyphoon day but hopefully the weather wouldn’t be too bad.

On Sunday, it’s raining hardcore. She texts messages me and suggest that we go watch a movie. I tell her to meet me at Dunhua. We meet up. She’s an hour late but hot damn! She’s got some big ol’ titties! I spin her causing her to giggle and we head to the coffee shops.

I pay for both of our coffees and we sit down. I run through my usual attraction routine. I show her different types of handshakes, we play thumbwar, run the cube, etc .

At one point, I tell her went to art school for 4 years and draw caricatures. When I was living in Barcelona I use to draw people pictures for beer money. Then I took out some paper and a pen and start drawing her. After a few minutes I show her my picture and reveal that I’ve drawn a stick figure. She laughs. I tell her to draw a picture of me looking like Superman. Then I took both pictures and made them talk to each other.

Picture of her: “Oh Bolo! You are so sexy! I must have you! *kiss*
*Made the two pictures kiss each other*

After roll playing for a bit, I seeded in going to the Hookah bar. We take off. I take her hand. Walked and talked for a bit. I asked about the tattoo on her back. Told her I wanted to get a giant Doreamon on my stomach.

We get to the hookah bar and I start telling her about my life adventures while applying different frames. I tell her about the time I wandered into a random bar in Seoul, realized it was a gay bar, and managed to hook two guys up. (Shows that I’m not judgemental about sex). Tell her the story about my sister going out with her boyfriend and I didn’t tell Mom. (Shows I can keep a secret). Then I ran the strawberry fields to frame her as someone who enjoys sex and taking what she wants.

I’ll admit that I’m super rusty with telling these stories. I stuttered and forgot exactly what to say and how to say it to get the response I want. Regardless, she still laughed.

While we were talking she just puts her head on my shoulder and we cuddle for a bit. I don’t find out too much about her. She doesn’t seem like the super talkative type. I mess around with her iPhone and look at all her pictures. Our conversation is winding down so I decided to seed in going to a DVD room. I ask her what type of movies she enjoys watching. Then I say “Let’s go watch a movie.” We bounce and she pays for the hookah and drinks.

I run the question game while we were walked. She’s had 5 lovers. The last time she had sex was 2 weeks ago. She likes rough, passionate sex. She’s dated foreigners before.

We get to the DVD room. I choose a random action movie and go watch it. I wait for a bit and then started caressing her hand. Then kiss her. Clothes off. No LMR. Nice.

This was an easy lay. I probably didn’t even need to do sexual framing with her. She was into me and the only thing I had to do was not say anything to stupid and to have my logistics down. I gotta say…I’ve never had a girl open me directly like she did. The total number of girls who have opened me at a club…I can count on one hand. It’s pretty cool. Makes me want to spend more time at the gym.

Cebu is known for having the best lechon in the Philippines. They even fly it in to Manila because it’s so delicious. How is lechon made? I wanted to discover this question and I had a local Filipino friend to help me. We were originally going to go to CNT in Guadalupe which is a famous lechon restaurant in Cebu. Unfortunately, they were closed at the time we arrived 8:00PM. Then my host mentioned this area that had many lechon restaurants you could choose from. “You mean like a lechon nightmarket area?” “Yes,” she responded it’s called Mambaling. Just a warning though this area can be quite dangerous. My Filipino friend recommend going with a local to this area. Apparently, there are a lot of criminals who hang out in that area.

We got out of the taxi and arrived in lechon town as I would like to call it. There were a variety of lechon restaurants. I’d say around ten or so. I was watching around me in case someone was going to try to jack me. My friend didn’t know the best restaurant to go to so I had her ask one of the locals in the area. They recommended a restaurant called Frena Lechon. First, we had to choose how much meat we wanted to buy. My friend decided that we would get a half a kilo for 180 pesos. For those who don’t know, this is actually a great price compared to the malls in Cebu which cost around 275 for half a kilo. A half a kilo is enough for to people.

The woman at the shop got our meat together. The part of the pig we were eating was the stomach and this is considered the best part of the pig to eat. During the afternoon, the entire pig is on display and people can choose which different parts they want to eat. The butcher cut our meat and then we took a seat in the restaurant. I felt comfortable there it had a good atmosphere. I could tell the people in this area thought I was intriguing because they kept looking in my direction. “Yes I’m a foreigner, yes I want to try lechon” I felt like saying to them.

I then asked my Filipino friend about the process in which lechon is made. It is a rather extensive process, but it’s the main reason the dish is so special to Cebuanos. First, bamboo is put from the anus of the pig through its mouth. Next, the pig is cut open and the intestines are cleaned out and any other unwanted parts are removed. Seasoning is then put in the stomach of the pig. The seasoning includes: thin pieces of green onion, soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic. Then the person roasting the pig has to put thread to tie the pigs’ stomach. Finally, the roasted pig is cooked for up to 5-6 hours over an open pit. However, the pigs, which are sold in this area, are cooked more quickly than they would be at home. That’s why you can notice small pieces of blood in only a small part of the meat.

I thought to myself “Wow I need to try a home cooked lechon pig!” It would be delicious. I went for my first bite into the lechon. I took my fork and grabbed a piece then dipped it into the sauce. We didn’t have a knife so I had to take big bites out of the lechon. My friend used her spoon to hold the meat and cut it with her fork. I was unable to do that and thus had to floss after eating. The sauce that was provided contains: soy sauce, vinegar, and a pepper. This gives the meat a sweet and tangy taste. I recommend soaking the meat in the sauce to give it a rich flavor. The texture of my first bite was fatty and slightly chewy, but full of flavor. My bites after that were less fatty. The meat was also cold and if you want it to be fresh you need to go to the restaurant when it opens or cook it at home. It was still good, though. I then went for the skin and that was well sweet, fatty, and chewy. It had lots of flavor. My friend ordered us two sprites it was nice to have something to drink since it was pretty hot.

The rice is also cooked in a special way. Uncooked pieces of rice are put into a coconut leaf until it is halfway filled up. The rice goes into the pot to boil. When it is finished, the leaf is cut in half. The texture of the rice is a bit hard, but it provides a good combination with the lechon.

After eating our meal, my friend told me that the restaurant workers thought we were married. It is common in the Philippines for foreigners to marry the local women. I laughed and wondered why I saw so many old guys here with the local women. My host then told me the restaurant worker thought I was handsome and she told me “come tomorrow” with a smile on her face. I told her “okay” with a smile. I honestly didn’t want to leave the restaurant. I think it was because I was satisfied from my meal and I just felt like sitting there. It’s nothing like a good meal!

I then started to feel heartburn coming on. It was probably the sauce that gave me the burning sensation. Nonetheless, it was a great experience to visit Mambaling and get a taste of the local lechon. As we all know from all our travels, it’s important to go where the locals go to eat.

When is lechon made?

It is made for special occasions like: weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc.

How much does lechon cost?

If you want a whole pig cooked, it will cost you between 2,000-3,000 pesos. Not bad if you split it with your friends. Let’s try it shall we?

Interesting fact about lechon?

Lechon is also exported from Cebu to other parts of Manila. That’s how good the lechon is in Cebu.

How to get to Ayala Mall? I recommend telling the cabdriver to drop you off at the Starbuck’s outside of Ayala Mall. The Starbuck’s is near the Citibank.

When you walk past the Starbuck’s, go down the stairs and get past the security guard. Yes, they have security guards just about everywhere in the Philippines. However, I think they are necessary to prevent bad people from getting inside locations. It’s better to be safe than sorry right. After passing the security guard, you are free to explore the mall.

The mall has four floors all filled with clothing stores, restaurants, and other types of shops. You can spend hours just wandering the mall it is huge. It’s also nicely air-conditioned which is much better than being outside. I think of the malls in the Philippines as a mini city. Cebu has poor infrastructure and you can’t walk around the city. It seems like investors in Cebu dumped money into malls, but the city has failed to improve its infrastructure. Nonetheless, it’s a nice place to sarge.

The food selection in Ayala Mall is impressive and the food court is on the fourth floor.

If you want to get Filipino style food, I recommend checking out the food court. There is a gym on the last floor as well. The third, floor which is below the food court, also has restaurants ranging from: Kfc, Jollybee’s, Kenny Roger’s, Greenwich, etc. Many of the restaurants on this floor are unhealthy.

However, I did come across Kenny Roger’s chicken where I sarged the Korean girl. This restaurant is a healthy alternative to the fast food restaurants on this floor. If you are craving American food, there is a TGI Friday’s on the first floor. The TGI’s is actually outdoor as well and close to the Starbuck’s. There are plenty of restaurants outside of the mall so I recommend checking them out.

One of the best parts of this mall is the really hot Korean girls you see walking around. Be warned though they come in big groups because of that I usually stuck to opening the solo girls or two sets. Also, they usually aren’t smart enough to get Filipino phones with sim cards so you are left with an email address. I’m not a big fan of emailing and my results from it have proven that it’s better to get a phone number.

Another major advantage of the mall is that you have tons of bounce locations if you decide to take a girl you just met somewhere. I recommend checking out the Starbuck’s and Coffee Bean outside of the mall. Here is a picture of the ground floor of the Starbuck’s and yes another security guard protecting it.

There are plenty of women to talk to in there. There is also an arcade named Timezone on the last floor. It has lots of fun games inside like basketball, fighting games, and DDR. There is an internet café on the fourth floor called Netopia and they have a 100MB connection, which is difficult to find in the Philippines.

The one major disadvantage of the mall is that you feel like you are walking in one big circle on the third and fourth floor. This had me feeling a bit nauseated today. You have been warned!

Want to know a really good café I found near Mango Square? M café is a venue that I came across while walking in front of Mango Square and my couchsurfing friend told me that they have a cheap breakfast for 55 pesos ($1.23). I went to check out the restaurant about a week ago and tried the chicken sandwich (40 pesos) and chocolate milk. Gilsa, who works there, is a very friendly girl who greeted me while I was eating my good. She gave me the password to the wifi, and she seemed delighted to talk to another foreigner. My meal only during that day only cost me 90 pesos. I decided to come back today and I ordered from the all day breakfast menu at 1PM.

Gilsa was there again to greet me and I asked her “Is there anything you can recommend on the breakfast menu?” She recommended two plates, and I chose the corned beef. I was wondering after I ordered it what it would taste like. The restaurant is popular with the locals. Although the café is small, the atmosphere is very inviting. There are paintings framed around the restaurant.

I chatted with Gilsa about good lechon restaurants and Cebu’s Chinatown. Cebu is famous for lechon which is a type of grilled pork and Cebu’s Chinatown was included in Anthony Bourdain’s travel show. She told me that Cebu’s Chinatown is quite dangerous. “I wonder why?” I asked myself. It is located on Manalili Street and I plan on going there with a couchsurfing friend. She also recommended a place called CNT which is famous in Cebu to try the lechon. The restaurant is located in SM Mall. The last restaurant she recommended was called BZ Be for the best Tex Mex food in Cebu. She mentioned that the owner is Puerto Rican and that he is also a great chef. I plan to check it out while I am here.

My food arrived after a few minutes and it came out hot and fresh. The dish looked very good it had corn beef, onions, egg sunny side up, and garlic rice. I mixed the egg with the corn beef and it gave it a rich taste. The corned beef was tender and flavorful. At first, I thought that the meal was a rather small portion size. Many of the restaurants in the Philippines serve food in small portions. After I finished my meal and ice tea, I was left feeling satisfied. I took some pictures of the place and told her that I would be back. The total price of the meal only 90 pesos ($2.02). Don’t you enjoy it when you have a great meal, and you didn’t have to pay much for it? That’s how I felt after leaving M Café. I definitely recommend checking out this restaurant.
